The Original building dates back to mid 16th century
although it was first recorded as an Inn as late as the mid 19th
century. A traditional black and white Inn, with a large beer garden
to the front.
The pub overlooks both Downside Common and the Village
Green . A quaint historic establishment, full of atmosphere
and charm, the interior of the Inn is a mass of heavy oak beams
and supports, crooked walls, low ceilings, open log fires and simple
comfortable country furnishings.
